2nd Alarm Abington Ma. 51 Randolph Street 03/20/2019
Just after 11:00hrs. the Abington Ma. Fire Dept responded to 51 Randolph Street for a reported house fire. Companies found fire in an exterior wall in a large 2.5 story wood frame structure. The Deputy Chief requested a W/F assignment bringing Rockland Engine-1 and Whitman Engine-243 to the scene. The house is roughly 150 years old with balloon frame construction, so the fire started to travel in the walls and ceilings so firefighters needed to open up the walls. As this was happening, the Deputy Chief transmitted the 2nd alarm for manpower to the scene, bringing Brockton Engine-7, Holbrook Engine-1 and Bridgewater Tower-1 to the scene. Firefighters stretched (3) hand lines and put (2) lines into operation. Norwell Fire Ambulance responded for the fire stand by unit and transported (1) fd member to the hospital for a minor injury. Firefighters were able to open up and knock down the fire in the walls stopping extension to the rest of the large house. American Red Cross was contacted for the 3 occupants of the house and the Whitman CERT responded to rehab.
