2nd Alarm/Double Fatal Avon Ma. 52 Freeman Street 12/25/2018
On Christmas Night just after 21:00hrs. Avon Ma. Fire Dept responded to 52 Freeman Street for a reported house fire. As Avon Engine-1 responded, the OIC requested the Working Fire assignment prior to arriving on scene. Upon Avon Engine-1's arrival, they reported heavy fire showing from a house with a report of occupants trapped. Fire was in a 1 story wood frame structure. A 2nd Alarm was struck bringing more mutual aid companies to the scene to assist. Firefighters were able to rescue one occupant (with cpr in progress) who was transported by ambulance and later died at the hospital. Firefighters did a secondary search and found another victim who was deceased. A third occupant of the house was transported to the hospital also with reported burns.
The OIC requested (2) ALS ambulances to the scene.
Mutual Aid was provided by Abington, Brockton, Canton, Holbrook, Randolph, Sharon, Stoughton Fire Departments.
The fire remains under investigation by Avon FD/PD and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
Fire ground rehab was provided by the Boston Sparks Association A10/A11.
