5th Alarm Portsmouth NH 135 Bow Street "Harbor Place Condo's" 02/01/13.

On Friday Evening, February 1, 2013 around 18:35hrs. Portsmouth NH Fire Dept responded to 135 Bow Street "Harbor Place Condo's" for a fire. Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire in the attic of a large 5 story brick and wood 200 by 200 apartment building containing 18 Units. The fire quickly went to 3 alarms bringing mutual aid to the scene to assist and for Portsmouth stations.
Around 20:00hrs, the OIC reported heavy fire conditions on floor 3 with fire thru the roof still and ordered the 4th Alarm be struck. The oic requested all 4th alarm companies to report with tools and extra air bottles. Firefighters con't to battle high winds, cold temperatures and the fire conditions and around 21:45hrs. the OIC struck the 5th Alarm.
Several Fire Depts from the State of Maine assisted at the scene.
The OIC reported the fire under control around 22:45hrs. and reported extensive overhaul to be done.
Firefighters had access problems due to the building being built off Bow Street and on the shores of the Portsmouth Harbor.
(I arrived at the fire about 5 mins before the 4th Alarm was struck).
