3rd Alarm Plus Manchester NH 333 Central Street 08/13/2012
On Monday Evening at 18:16hrs. Manchester NH. Fire Dept. responded to 333 Central Street for a structure fire. Car-1 was 1st due and reported heavy smoke and fire showing and quickly struck the 2nd alarm. Firefighters found heavy fire on the 2nd and 3rd floors and attic area of a large 3 story wood-frame (triple decker) with a large 3 story strucuture in the rear which was also on fire. Firefighters quickly preformed a search and due to the heavy fire and smoke conditions, the OIC ordered all firefighters to evacuate the structures. The 3rd alarm was transmitted and companies step up for exterior operations with master streams. Trucks 1,7 and 3 set up in the front and Truck 6 and 5 had the rear and went to work with master streams and several large handlines.
The Chief of the Dept. reported the heavy fire knocked down and placed the fire under control around 20:00hrs. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours overhauling and extinguishing hot spots.
Firefighters did rescue 2 cats and 12 people have been left homeless. It is reported 4 buildings received damage from the fire.
