4th Alarm Boston Ma. Box 1212 26 Cooper Street 09/04/2012

On Tuesday Night just after 23:00hrs. The Boston Fire Dept. transmitted Box 1212 for a building fire at 26 Cooper Street in the North End section of the city. 1st due Ladder-1/Engine-8 reported heavy fire showing and quickly transmitted the 2nd alarm. Firefighters found fire on all floors of a 4 story brick OMD with heavy fire on the top floor and thru the roof. The 3rd alarm was transmitted shortly after that. Firefighters also requested EMS to the scene for 1 person with reported serious burns and was transported by B-EMS to Mass General Hospital. Companies stretched numerous big hand lines and shortly after the arrival of the Division Chief the 4th alarm was transmitted.
Firefighters reported that the stairs were burnt away and the OIC made the decision to go to exterior operations and all firefighters were removed from the building.
Firefighters were able to knock down the heavy fire on the top floor and roof shortly after going to exterior operations. Numerous ground ladders were thrown and after the heavy fire was knocked down, companies went back to an interior operations to chase hot spots and overhaul.
The building was a 4 story brick OMD 40 by 60 with (2) attached large OMDs on 2 sides.
