2nd Alarm Manchester, NH. 366 Pearl Street 12/24/2012
On Monday Morning around 02:55hrs. Manchester, NH. Fire Dept. responded to 366 Pearl Street for a reported structure fire. While companies were en route, FAO notified them that it was a call for a basement fire, then a 2nd call reporting a possible smoke inhalation victim.
Engine-10 was first due and reported smoke showing and shortly after that, Car-1 arrived.
Car-1 reported a basement fire in a occupied 2.5 story wood-frame structure 35X60 (2) Family Unit.
Firefighters stretched several lines, while truck companies started to ventilate and Rescue-1 did a search. Truck-1 set up and went to the roof.
Rescue-1 reported searches all clear and all occupants were accounted for.
Heavy fire vented from the 'B' side basement and fire extended to the 1st floor. As this was happening, Car-1 requested the all companies evacuate the building due to the heavy fire and smoke conditions. Truck-1 and Truck-5 sounded the air-horns and the firefighters evacuated. The Car-1 requested the 2nd alarm to be struck.
Firefighters went into defensive mode with several hand lines, knocking down the heavy fire conditions though the basement windows.
As the 2nd alarm companies arrived, several more hand lines were stretched and companies went back to interior operations and found fire conditions on floor 1 on the 'B' side.
Firefighters knocked down the fire with in an hour. One victim was treated by M-EMS.
Five people were left home less from the fire.
