2nd Alarm Manchester NH 52 Myrtle Street 05/12/10

On Thursday Morning around 01:45hrs, Manchester NH Fire Dept received the master box for this location, while companies were en route, the box was struck after getting calls for a fire. Engine-11 was 1st due with heavy smoke showing and shortly after that, the District Chief requested a 2nd Alarm. The fire was in a large 2 story brick & wood structure 50x100 occupied rooming house. Due to heavy fire conditions in the attic area-companies went to an exterior attack with Truck-1, Truck-3 and Truck-6 with their ladder pipes and multiple hand lines. After the heavy fire was knocked down, companies went back to an interior attack and chased down hot spots.
The Red Cross was called to assist the 16 residents from the 12 unit building. It was also reported that an resident with smoke inhalation and 1 firefighter were transported to the hospital.
A firefighter escaped injury when the rear stair case gave way causing him to fall.
