A/C/W Newton Ma. 160 Walnut Street 04/13/09
On Monday April 13, 2009 Newton Fire struck a box for a reported fire in the house at 160 Walnut Street around 8:30am. Being on the way home from working the night shift in FAO, I found myself only 3 blocks away on Watertown Street. Upon my arrival (Before 1st due company's) I found light smoke showing from the 3rd floor rear of a large 2.5 story wood-frame 25x60 with 2 additions in the rear. The tenants reported that they all were accounted for except for 1 small black dog was still inside and that the fire was in the kitchen on the 3rd floor. Engine-4, along with Engine-1 and Ladder-3 (using spare ladder 4) were 1st due. Companies stretched (2) 1 3/4 lines and put 1 into operation and quickly knocked down the kitchen fire. Firefighters did rescue the small black dog and he seemed to be ok but was transported by animal control to be checked out.
