4th Alarm+ Middleboro Ma. South Main Street "Central Congregational Church" 05/25/09

On Monday morning (Memorial Day) around 7am, May 25, 2009 Middleboro Ma. Fire Dept struck 4+ alarms for the Central Congregational Church on South Main Street at Webster Street. Heavy fire in a large 100x50 wood-frame church that was built in 1848. At the height of the fire, there was 4 tower/ladders, 2 ladder pipes and several deck guns in operation. Just happened to be working when this job hit so I decided to take it in, especially since my relief was early. As i arrived, there was light smoke showing but interior companies were reporting heavy fire conditions inside and a few minutes later it broke threw the roof near the steeple. It took firefighters several hours using master streams to bring it under control. Several special requests were made during the fire and extensive mutual aid was used. Middleboro also had to cancel the Memorial Day Parade because the fire was on the route and across from the towns Memorial area.
